Vihama Energy gives to Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development
Vihama Energy Limited, a company that deals in petroleum products, has donated a double cabin pickup truck valued at GH¢120,000 to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development (MoFAD) in support of its supervisory activities in relation to the distribution of premix fuel to the fishing community in the country.
The company has for the past three years been the only supplier of premix fuel to the fishing industry in the country.
The Chief Executive Officer of Vihama Energy Limited, Mr Sebastian Asem, presented the vehicle to the ministry and expressed his wish that the vehicle would help to promote its work and that of the committee charged with the responsibility to oversee the distribution of premix fuel.
According to him, the company’s role in transporting and selling premix fuel has helped to make the product readily available and cheap for the fishing communities in the country.
“My outfit will continue to assist the fishing industry by ensuring that they [fishermen] receive premix fuel in the right quantities for their daily activities,” he said.
Minister
The Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Ms Sherry Ayittey, thanked Vihama Energy Limited for the vehicle and said the secretariat in charge of premix fuel had had several challenges with regard to the way the distribution of the product was monitored.
She said that the vehicle would facilitate the work of checking adulteration and the rampant diversion of the product as that was a source of worry to fishermen.
She commended the company for its role in making the product available to players in the industry even in times when there were hiccups in its availability and accessibility.
Ms Ayittey promised that her ministry would ensure that the vehicle was used for the intended purpose.
